As I continue in the Variable Expenses section of the How To Live Totally Free plan today I discuss how to save money on clothing, furniture, household goods, and other items. The best way to cut costs with these is to buy used goods to save money. Also called “thrifting” this way allows you to get the items you need for your home without having to spend so much money.
Why You Should Buy Used Goods To Save Money
The main reason why you should buy used goods to save money is so you don’t overspend. However, there is another good reason: There are plenty of gently-used furniture, electronics, etc. available online and offline.
We always think to go to the store to get whatever we need. Yet, our neighbors sell those items at a lower price. Or you can head over to a thrift store to find them too. Yes, it takes more time to find the item you need. However, the price savings are worth it. Especially if you need to buy high-ticket items like furniture or certain electronics. I currently need some furniture for my new place and I’m going to buy some of it used.
