Day of the Devs returns this weekend for its 10th anniversary to celebrate indie game development.

Day of the Devs happens this weekend in San Francisco, CA to celebrate indie game development. This free event features video game demos (which people can play), live music, food, drinks, and fun!

About Day of the Devs

According to its website: “Day of the Devs began in 2012 as a collaboration between Double Fine and iam8bit with the purpose of shining the spotlight on great indie games. Since then, the event has showcased over 500 games in both in-person and online events.”

Double Fine Productions created in 2000 by Tim Schafer, who’s best known for games like Grim Fandango, Brütal Legend, and Psychonauts. iam8bit is a creative production company now financing and publishing games for PC, console, and tabletop.

Event Details For Day of the Devs

After taking an extended break due to the COVID-19 Pandemic the in-person Day of the Devs events is back this Saturday, November 5th at The Midway in San Francisco, CA. Those wanting to attend can RSVP here.

The event’s hours are from 3 PM to 7 PM PT. However, those in the media can enter the event an hour early by contacting the organizers. If you’re not part of the video game media you can still enter the event earlier by purchasing the Day of the Devs Humble Bundle. That purchase also gives VIP holders access to play the following games: Gang Beasts, Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin, Escape Goat 2, Everything, Massive Chalice, GNOG, THOTH, 140, Broken Age and the Double Fine Adventure (Documentary series).

Digital Showcase

If you’re like me and can’t attend the in-person event you can still participate by watching the Davy of the Devs digital showcase. It premiered live today at 10 AM PT but you can watch the reply on YouTube and Twitch. The showcase is an hour long and presents all types of indie video games and descriptions from staff members of the game’s development team. So far I’ve watch about 20 minutes and found many interesting games to keep an eye on. Some are available later on this year, while others will release in 2023.
