My Nintendo Switch 2023 Predictions

my nintendo switch 2023 predictions
Here's my predictions for the console in 2023, focusing on a possible new console release, and upcoming titles.

The new year is here! That means it’s time to guess what’s going to happen with the consoles. Last, but not the least, is my Nintendo Switch 2023 predictions.

The first of my Nintendo Switch 2023 predictions is about the console’s hardware. Come March 2023 the base hardware turns 6 years old. And many fans want to see Nintendo release a new and more powerful console. Will the company do so? I think that will happen but it’s iffy if that will happen this year.

Nintendo is a very secretive company and they release information whenever the company is ready to. However, going by past experiences I think it’s possible the company could release a new and upgraded Switch model with the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Yet, it’s also possible we won’t see one. Late in December came a leak of what appears to be a new OLED switch model with graphics from Tears of the Kingdom.

All this talk about when Nintendo will release a Super Switch is missing the big picture. There’s no reason for the company to do so. The console is seeing record-breaking sales for many of its first-party games. I already covered the Q3 earnings report which showed high software sales even with lower Switch console sales. Pokemon Scarlet and Violent, which released on November 18, 2022, sold 10 million units within 3 days! Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold over 48 million copies total. Animal Crossing: New Horizons isn’t far behind at 40+ million sold copies. As long as Switch games continue to sell well Nintendo will continue to support the console as well as design the successor.

Subscription Services

Next up for my Nintendo Switch 2023 predictions is the continued success of Nintendo Switch Online. The expansion plan including N64 and Sega Genesis games continue to add additional games. And it attracted more players to the online service. The service has at least 32 million subscribers (and I’m one of those sub) but that number hasn’t been updated since May 2022. Other estimate there could be 36 millions subscribers.

That number will increase once GoldenEye 64 releases some time this year. When will the game release is anyone’s guess. However, when it does it will include online multiplayer. Which I’m excited for!

Upcoming Titles

The final of my Nintendo Switch 2023 predictions is about the upcoming titles. I already spoke about the highly-anticipated sequel Tear of the Kingdom which releases on May 12, 2023. Another wanted game (especially by me) is Pikmin 4. That game doesn’t have a release date but will release somewhere this year.

Games that do have a release date that are going to sell well include:

  • Fire Emblem Engage (release date January 23, 2023)
  • Tales of Symphonia Remastered (release date February 17, 2023)
  • Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe (release date February 24, 2023)
  • Octopath Traveler II (release date February 24, 2023)
  • Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon (release date March 17, 2023)

One game that may actually release this year after a long delay is Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp. Well, we hope. Nintendo hasn’t said anything about this game after the last delay.

Oh, and I can’t forget about Metroid Prime 4. So many fans want this game to release this year but I’m not sure that’s going to happen. We’ll just have to wait and see.

If the IGN exclusive report is true that Xbox, Nintendo, or Sony will not show up for the convention, then E3 is in trouble.
