The New York Game Awards releases its nominees today for its upcoming show on January 17, 2023. In addition to giving out the awards, the event will honor Xbox’s CEO Phil Spencer.
New York Game Awards Details
The New York Game Awards is the creation of the the New York Videogame Critics Circle (NYVGCC). According to its website, the NYVGCC is “based in Manhattan” and “is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit multicultural organization comprised of 40 of the finest videogame critics, writers, reporters and bloggers in the nation.” This is the twelfth year of the event. Its hosts are the former President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aimé, and NYVGCC president and founder, Harold Goldberg.
If you’re in Manhattan you can purchase tickets to the award show. It’s in the SVA Theatre. Tickets are slightly weird to purchase since the NYVGCC is a non-profit organization. According to the instructions on the ticket site people can donate $40 USD for a general admission ticket. Or if someone wants to sit closer to the stage then that person can donate $75. In addition, that donation provides access to the after party and drinks. That could give people access to talk with various video game industry professionals, critics, and maybe even Phil Spencer.
Now if you can’t make it out to Manhattan to watch the award show live you don’t have to fret. The NYVGCC will livestream it on both YouTube and Twitch.
