For all Nintendo fans this news is fantastic to hear: Super Nintendo World finally opens on Feb 17, 2023! Both Nintendo and Universal Studios Hollywood released the news today. You can visit the official page for the park and get tickets here.
What Can You Do At Super Nintendo World?
There’s plenty to do at Super Nintendo World such as rides, meeting with characters, eating Mario Bros. themed food, and purchase merchandise.
The top ride appears to be Mario Kart™: Bowser’s Challenge as shown below:
The ride works as the riders “put on the special goggles and battle Team Bowser on iconic Mario Kart courses alongside Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach. Collect coins and throw shells to win the Golden Cup on the groundbreaking Mario Kart ride with cutting-edge technology.”
After shooting shells at each other on the Mario Kart ride visitors can meet Mario, Luigi, or Peach and have their pictures taken with them. And if visitors purchase a Power-Up Band they will get an “enhanced” experience.
All that riding around, meet-and-greets, and walking is going to tire park visitors out. To reenergize they can visit Toadstool Cafe to eat all types of Mario Bros. theme food.
Finally, visitors can purchase all types of merchandise at Super Nintendo World at the 1-Up Factory Store.
I So Want To Go!
As a Nintendo fan I’ve been waiting for the theme park to open here in America. The first iteration opened at Universal Studios Japan nearly two years ago. However, I knew I wouldn’t be able to go there to visit the theme park so I waited for Universal Studios to build the parks here in America. I’m closer to Universal Studios Florida. However, the Super Nintendo Park at that location won’t open to the public until 2025. Unfortunately, the Pandemic caused the delay as no work was done on the park during 2020.
So will I go? I’m thinking about it. I have SkyMiles so the flight out to Los Angeles is no problem. I looked at ticket prices for opening day and they are pricey at $184 for adults on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. As for hotel prices I haven’t checked out those prices yet but I suspect they may be high too. However, I haven’t had a vacation in a long time, and I didn’t celebrate my 40th birthday this year so I may treat myself to a belated 40th birthday bash at the park.
